Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, a representative from Amazing Himalaya Trekking will meet you and take you to your hotel. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Before starting our trek to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC), we’ll spend a full day sightseeing in Kathmandu, visiting UNESCO-listed World Heritage Sites. While we explore, our team will be arranging your trekking permits. Today, we will do a full-day sightseeing tour around Kathmandu Valley; you will be visiting different UNESCO-listed world heritage sites, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath Stupa and Boudhanath Stupa.
Our tour begins at Kathmandu Durbar Square, also known as Basantapur, which features ancient temples, palaces, and courtyards. Here, you’ll see traditional pagoda-style temples, the Kumari Ghar (home of the living goddess), and the culturally significant Taleju Bhawani Temple.
Next, we’ll visit Pashupatinath Temple, located on the banks of the Bagmati River. This Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. While only Hindus are allowed inside, all visitors can experience the spiritual ambiance and observe the various rituals performed around the temple grounds.
We then move on to Swayambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple. Perched atop a hill, it offers historical insights into the foundation of the Kathmandu Valley and provides a panoramic view of the city.
Our final stop is Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest stupas and a major tourist attraction in Kathmandu. Built in the shape of a mandala, the area around the stupa can be bustling, but you’ll find peace amidst the Tibetan chants and mantras.
After a day of exploration, we’ll return to the hotel to rest and prepare for the exciting adventure ahead.
After soaking up the vibrant vibe of Kathmandu, we will drive to Pokhara, which will take around 6 hours and is 200km from Kathmandu. Along the way, we will pass through impressive mountain landscapes and peaceful villages. The city is located directly on Fewa Lake, and we have a wonderful view of the immediate and close-up mountain panorama of the Annapurna massif. From here, numerous hiking trails begin in the Annapurna area. Overnight in Pokhara.
After breakfast, we’ll start on a 2.5-hour drive from Pokhara to Nayapul. From there, we’ll start our trek towards Ghandruk, the largest Gurung village known for its distinctive architecture and strong sense of community. Many of the men in Ghandruk are either retired or currently serving in the British Gurkha army.
We’ll have lunch in Ghandruk before continuing our trek to Chomorung, which will take about 4-5 hours. As we ascend, the mountains seem to draw closer. We’ll spend the night in a trekkers’ lodge in Chomorung.
Today the tour goes steeply downhill until we cross the Chomrong Khola (1,900m), then the trail goes steeply up to Dovan. But we will always have a nice view of Modi Khola Valley once we cross Chomorong. Overnight rest in Trekkers Lodge.
Starting our trek from Dovan to Deurali, we will journey through a dense jungle for about 4 to 5 hours, depending on our pace. The trail takes us through a lush forest filled with bamboo, oak, and rhododendron trees, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Keep an eye out for wildlife, as this area is home to various bird and animal species.
When we reach Deurali, we’ll find a small settlement with tea houses where we can rest and relax. At an elevation of 3,230 meters, it’s crucial to stay hydrated and make it easy to acclimatize properly. We’ll spend the night in Deurali.
On the seventh day of ABC Trek, we will move to our next destination, Machhapuchhre Base Camp, alongside the river on a stony path. The trek is around 5 hours, and on the way, you can witness magnificent views of the Himalayan peaks, including Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and the majestic Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) itself. The scenery becomes more dramatic as you approach the base camp, with towering snow-capped mountains surrounding you.
The journey may seem tough, but the rewarding views make it all worthwhile. We’ll spend the night in a trekkers lodge.
Today marks the eighth day of the trek to Annapurna Base Camp, one of the highlights of the trek. We will wake up early for the walk to Annapurna Base Camp, braving the chilly and windy morning before sunrise. We’ll hike at a comfortable pace on a fairly steep trail. As we move forward, we’ll be treated to stunning views of Nilgiri, Mardi Himal, and Annapurna up close.
At the base camp, we’ll take our time to absorb the serene beauty of Annapurna before heading back to Machhapuchhre Base Camp. From there, we’ll begin our descent, making our way back from our final destination at the top. We’ll eventually stop at the Himalaya Hotel, located at 2,920 meters. Overnight, we’ll stay in a trekkers lodge.
After immersing ourselves in mesmerizing views of the Annapurna Range, we will hike towards Jhinu Dada. The hike will take us through the jungle over Doban and Bamboo, down to Chomorong Khola, and eventually up to Chomorong.
From Chomorong, the trail descends steeply to Jhinu Dada. We will then rest overnight in Trekkers Lodge.
After breakfast, relax in a natural hot spring, which will give relief to your tired muscles. Then, we will drive back to Pokhara, which will take around two and a half hours.
Upon reaching Pokhara, relax and unwind, enjoy free time in Pokhara, stroll around the lakeside area, and enjoy the nightlife of Pokhara.
Today, we will head back to Kathmandu after spending memorable days in the Annapurna Region. The drive will take around 6 to 7 hours. Check into the hotel and rest in a hotel in Kathmandu.
After breakfast, we will go on a half-day sightseeing tour to Bhaktapur, the most beautiful city in the Kathmandu valley. Bhaktapur is also listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Here, you can see the Durbar Square, the pottery market, the famous peacock window, and the five-story Nyatapola Temple, Nepal’s highest pagoda. Drive back to Kathmandu. The rest of the day, you have free time for shopping or walking around Thamel.
After some free time, a farewell dinner will be served in the evening to celebrate the successful completion of our journey to the Annapurna Base Camp Trek(ABC). Overnight in Kathmandu.
Today is the final day of your luxurious 13-day Trek to Annapurna Base Camp. Amazing Himalaya Trekking staff will transfer you to the airport for your final departure from Nepal. We hope this trek will be memorable.
The Annapurna Base Camp trek is moderately challenging. While it doesn’t require technical climbing skills, you’ll be trekking at high altitudes with some steep ascents and descents. The terrain can be tough, but with a reasonable fitness level and some preparation, it’s definitely manageable and incredibly rewarding.
The trek to Annapurna Base Camp typically takes about 7-12 days, depending on your pace and the specific route you take. Including travel to and from Kathmandu, the entire trip often spans around 13 days.
The cost can vary widely depending on the level of comfort and services you choose. A standard trek can range from $700 to $1,500, while luxury packages, including permits, guides, porters, meals, and accommodations, can cost upwards of $2,000 to $3,000 or more.
Both treks have their challenges, but the Everest Base Camp trek is generally considered more difficult due to its higher altitude and longer duration. Annapurna is challenging, too, especially with its steep sections, but it’s usually seen as a bit less strenuous overall.
The highest point is the Annapurna Base Camp itself, situated at approximately 4,130 meters (13,550 feet).
Yes, but our itinerary allows gradual acclimatization to minimize the risk of altitude sickness. Guides are trained to assist with any altitude-related issues.
