This 16-day trek to Langtang Gosaikunda Helambu offers a fascinating blend of experiences, showcasing the contrast between the towering snow-capped peaks and the rolling middle hills of the Mahabharat range. You’ll journey through diverse Hindu and Buddhist settlements in the Helambu region, where you’ll encounter the warm hospitality of the Sherpa people. The trek, dominated by the towering Langtang Lirung (7,246m), takes you through the heart of Sherpa culture, distinct from the Sherpas of the Khumbu.
Helambu is known for its Buddhist monasteries and the graceful Sherpa women, considered by locals to be among the most beautiful in all Sherpa communities. Before beginning our trek to Langtang Gosaikunda Helambu Trek, we will spend a full day exploring Kathmandu and visiting the famous tourist sites Swayambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, and Patan.
Swayambhunath is Perched on a hilltop; this ancient stupa offers panoramic views of the Himalayas and Kathmandu Valley.
Kathmandu Durbar Square: Immerse yourself in Kathmandu’s history and culture at this UNESCO World Heritage Site, surrounded by ancient palaces, temples, and sculptures.
Patan (Lalitpur): Wander through Patan Durbar Square, known for its well-preserved architecture and Buddhist heritage, including the Krishna Temple and Golden Temple.
Return to your hotel in Kathmandu to relax after a day of exploration.
After breakfast, enjoy a scenic 6-hour drive through beautiful landscapes, passing traditional villages, until we reach Syabru Besi. The village offers close-up mountain views, and we’ll spend the night here, soaking in the fresh mountain air.
We begin trekking along the Langtang Khola, passing through oak and rhododendron forests. After a day of ascents and descents, we arrive at Lama Hotel, surrounded by lush forests. Overnight at Trekkers Lodge.
Continuing the trek along the Langtang Khola, climbing steeply toward Ghora Tabela. The landscape opens up to green meadows with views of the towering Langtang Mountains. We pass through yak pastures and villages before arriving at Langtang Village, which is still recovering from the 2015 earthquake. Overnight at Trekkers Lodge.
A shorter day takes us to Kyangjin Gompa, a significant Buddhist monastery. On the way, you’ll see water mills, prayer wheels, and the largest Mani wall in Nepal. After settling in, we’ll hike to Kyanjin Ri (4,350m) for stunning panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. Overnight at Kyangjin Gompa.
Today is an acclimatization day. For those up for a challenge, we’ll offer a trek to Tsergo Ri (4,984m) with packed lunches. This trek rewards you with incredible views of the Langtang range. Overnight at Kyangjin Gompa.
We head back to Ghoda Tabela, retracing our path through lush forests and charming Tamang villages. The descent offers a new perspective on the stunning surroundings. We’ll spend the night in Ghoda Tabela, soaking in the peaceful ambiance of the area.
Today’s trek takes us up to Thulo Syabru, a delightful village with traditional Sherpa and Tamang culture. As we climb, we’ll be rewarded with stunning views of Langtang Himal and Ganesh Himal. We’ll spend the night in Thulo Syabru.
We trek through the beautiful village of Dimsa and climb past Durdagang and Foprang Danda, soaking in breathtaking mountain views. Our stop for the night is Shin Gompa, known for its local cheese factory and Buddhist monastery. We overnight at Trekkers Lodge.
After breakfast, we’ll start our trek toward Gosaikunda Lake, climbing steeply and soaking in the stunning views along the way. The trail meanders through tranquil rhododendrons and pine forests, creating a peaceful hiking experience. As we reach Gosaikunda Lake, the crystal-clear waters will reflect the majestic peaks around us. We’ll spend the night at a cozy Trekkers Lodge, enjoying the serene and magical atmosphere of this high-altitude retreat.
We’ll begin the day with a peaceful walk around Gosaikunda Lake, taking in its tranquil beauty before the real adventure kicks off. A challenging climb will lead us over rugged moraines to the Lauri Bina Pass at 4,609 meters, where the views are simply breathtaking. After catching our breath, we’ll descend to Phedi, navigating rocky hills and tranquil pine forests. By the end of the day, we’ll arrive in the small, remote village of Gopte, ready to relax and enjoy a well-earned rest.
On day thirteen of the Langtang Gosaikunda Helambu Trek, we’ll set out in the morning, descending from Gopte as the trail takes us through a series of ups and downs. Our next destination is Tharepati; the path takes us through peaceful landscapes, with quiet moments in the forest and a few challenging climbs.
As we near the end of the day, we’ll make our final ascent to Tharepati, a cozy stop nestled in the mountains. We’ll settle into a lodge for the night, surrounded by fresh mountain air and stunning views.
From Tharepati, we will head to Gul Bhanjyang. The journey will take us through the verdant forest paths of Shivapuri National Park, where we might catch glimpses of local wildlife. As we descend through rolling green hills, we’ll arrive at the picturesque village of Gul Bhanjyang. We’ll spend the night at a cozy Trekkers Lodge, soaking in the village’s charming atmosphere and beautiful surroundings.
Enjoy a 5-hour trek through lush greenery, passing through Thodang Betini and Chipling, before arriving in Chisapani. From there, take a 2.5-hour jeep ride back to Kathmandu for an overnight stay.
After 16 incredible days of exploring the breathtaking landscapes of Langtang, Gosaikunda, and Helambu, our adventure has come to a close.
