In this adventurous 16-day Everest base camp trek, you will go through beautiful Sherpa villages. Passing through the villages, you will encounter communities nestled in the lap of the Himalayas outside of the hustle and bustle of urban life. You will get to experience their culture, enjoy local cuisines, experience Sherpa hospitality, and learn about their unique culture—these are just some of the highlights of the trek. Not to forget the foot of the tallest mountain in the world, Mount Everest (8848 meters).

The adventurous trek to Everest Base Camp with Kala Patthar starts in the lively city of Kathmandu. Here, you will explore the Kathmandu Valley and its UNESCO-listed sites: Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath Stupa, and Boudhanath Stupa. The next day, you’ll catch a scenic flight to Lukla. Lukla is the gateway to the region and marks both the beginning and end of your 16-day Mount Everest Base Camp trek.

The budget trek of Everest Base Camp will take you through the narrow Dudh Koshi valley to reach Namche Bazaar, the commercial center of the Sherpas. To help our bodies adjust to the altitude, we will spend two nights in Namche Bazaar, where we will explore the typical Sherpa settlements of Khunde and Khumjung.

Following our route, we will pass through the Tengboche Monastery, which is at an elevation of 3880 meters, offering stunning views of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and other towering peaks. A key highlight of our trek is the climb to the best viewpoint for Everest, the summit of Mt. Kala Patthar, which is at an elevation of 5,545 meters. Located just 10 kilometers from the highest peak in the world, Mount Everest. This spot provides breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan giants.

The EBC trek is considered difficult due to its high altitude. However, with proper acclimatization, it can be enjoyable. Our experienced guide will be with you throughout the journey to lead you and help you in any way possible to ensure your safety and comfort.
The best season for the Everest Base Camp trek is between March, April, May, September, October, and November. This is a great time as the weather is perfect.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m).

After arriving at the airport a representative from Amazing Himalaya Trekking will receive you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Full day Sightseeing Tour in Kathmandu and Preparation of Trekking Permit.

Today, our tour goes to Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath Stupa and Boudhanath Stupa which are all in UN World Heritage sites. The Durbar Square sheds light on the life of the royals in ancient times. Pashupatinath Temple is one of the most important places of pilgrimage for all Hindus. Swayambhunath is also known as the Monkey Temple, it is on top of a hill, and has historical significance associated with the foundation of Kathmandu valley. Boudhanath Stupa is one of the largest stupas in the world. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Kathmandu Durbar Square:Located in the heart of Kathmandu showcasing the rich architecture and cultural heritage. These main attractions are visiting temples, palaces built between the 12th and 18th centuries, Hanuman Dhoka, and the Kumari Ghar (home of the living goddess).

Swayambhunath: Known as Monkey Temple, it lies on the top Hill of Kathmandu Valley, offering a panoramic view of Kathmandu from the top. This Heritage Site is revered by both Buddhists and Hindus. It features a stupa with Buddha’s eyes painted on it, symbolizing the Buddha’s all-seeing nature, and is surrounded by monasteries.

Boudhanath: One of the popular tourist destinations of Kathmandu, giving a spiritual vibe with Tibetan chanting and mantras. Spend some quality time clicking pictures in the rooftop cafe and enjoy local Tibetan cuisine there. Around the Stupa there are many souvenir shops and handicraft items in local shops which you can take back home.

Day 03: Fly to Lukla, trek to Phakding (2,651m) Early morning flight from Kathmandu or Manthali to Lukla.

Our adventurous journey starts with a thrilling flight to Lukla. If the flight from Kathmandu is unavailable, we will arrange a 4-hour drive to Manthali and then take a flight to Lukla. The trek starts with a descent to Cheplung, offering views of the sacred mountain Mt. Khumbila. Further, descend to Phakding. Overnight stay at Trekkers Lodge.

Day 04: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) 5 hours.

The next day, we will continue our journey to Namche Bazaar, where we will trek through a pine forest, cross the Dudh Koshi River, and pass Chumoa and Monjo villages. Enjoying scenic views throughout our hike, we will reach the entrance of Everest National Park, cross a suspension bridge to Jorsale, and ascend to the iconic Namche Bazaar. The trek will take around 5 hours. Then, we will stay overnight at Namche Bazaar.

Day 05: Acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar & explore to Everest viewpoint.

The fifth day of our Everest Base camp trek will be for acclimatization, which is crucial for our body to adjust the increasing altitude. During the acclimatization period, we will explore the vibrant Namche Bazaar and spend quality time enjoying local cuisines. We will also hike toward the Everest viewpoint, where we will enjoy a close view of Mt. Everest, including Lhotse, Makalu, Ama Dablam, and more. Finally, we will spend a night at Namche Bazar, getting ready for the next day.

Day 06: Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,870m), 5-6 hours.

From Namche Bazaar we will head to Tengboche (3,870m). This trail leads you through beautiful forests and offers stunning views of Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Nuptse, and Lhotse. The trek will take around 5 to 6 hours. We will stay Overnight at Tengboche.

Day 07: Tengboche to Dingboche (4,365 m), 5-6 hours.

Continuing our trek to EBC, the next destination is Dingboche which will take around 5 to 6 hours. We will trek downhill through rhododendron forests, take in the stunning views, and cross the Imja River to reach Pangboche. Then, visit Pangboche Monastery and ascend to Dingboche. Enjoy the picturesque fields and settlements. Overnight in Dingboche.

Day 08: Dingboche to Lobuche (4940 m), 5 hours.

From Dingboche, we will take a short 5-hour trek towards Lobuche. We will ascend and descend through Khumbu glacier paths, reach Chupki Lhara for panoramic mountain views, and continue to Lobuche. We will spend the night in Lobuche.

Day 09: Lobuche to Gorakshep (5170 m), 3 hours, after lunch visit Everest Base Camp (5364m).

Our journey towards Everest Base Camp will lead us to Gorak Shep, which is at an elevation of 5170 meters, and then we will enjoy a hearty lunch there. From Gorak Shep, we will trek towards Everest Base Camp, 5364 meters. Our last destination will take around 3 hours from Lobuche. Encounter stunning views of the Khumbu Icefall and enjoy close views of Everest (8848 meters) and other Himalayan peaks from Everest Base Camp. Return to Gorak Shep for the night stay.

Day 10: Gorakshep to Kala Patthar (5,644m) to Pheriche (4,288m), 6 hours.

To get a breathtaking view of the sunrise, we will start our hike early in the morning to Kala Patthar, the highest point of the trek. The sunrise from Kala Patthar is one of the highlights of our 16-day trek to EBC. Then, we will Descend to Gorak Shep for breakfast and continue the journey to Pheriche. Overnight in Pheriche.

Day 11: Pheriche to Namche Bazaar (3,440m), 5 hours.

After spending the night in Pheriche, we will return to Namche Bazar. Trekking through rhododendron forests, crossing the Pangboche, and reaching Tengboche. Along the way, enjoy panoramic views. Stay overnight in Tengboche.

Day 12: Tangboche to Monju (2,835 m), 6 hours.

Following the scenic path adorned with blooming crimson rhododendrons, you’ll make your way toward Monjo. As you leave Monjo, you’ll also depart from the boundaries of Sagarmatha National Park. The route descends to the Dudh Koshi River, where you’ll cross several suspension bridges, pass by tranquil monasteries, and hike through the bustling Namche Bazar before arriving in Monjo. Here, you can unwind and soak in the serene mountain atmosphere. Your day ends with an overnight stay in Monjo.

Day 13: Monjo to Lukla (2845m), 5 hours.

On Day 13, you’ll travel from Monjo back to Lukla, which sits at an elevation of 2,845 meters. This hike will take about 5 hours, involves a mix of descending and ascending paths, and includes crossing several suspension bridges.

Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to visit monasteries and immerse yourself in the local culture. Upon reaching Lukla, take the time to rest and relax, as this marks your last day in the mountains.

Spend the night in Lukla, reflecting on the adventures and journey to Everest Base Camp and the wonderful memories you made.

Day 14: Fly to Kathmandu/Manthali. Catch an early morning flight to Kathmandu/Manthali.

If the flight to Kathmandu is not operational, you will fly to Manthali. The drive back to Kathmandu from Manthali takes approximately 4 hours. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you can either rest or explore the city for last-minute shopping. You can also relax in a restaurant or bar.

Day 15: Half Day Sightseeing Tour In Kathmandu.

After breakfast, we will go on a half-day sightseeing tour to Bhaktapur, the most beautiful city in the Kathmandu valley.
Bhaktapur is also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you can see the Durbar Square, the pottery market, the famous peacock window, as well as the five-story Nyatapola, Nepal’s highest pagoda.

Finally, drive back to Kathmandu. Rest of the day you have free time for shopping or walking around Thamel.

Farewell dinner will be served in the evening to celebrate the successful 16 days of our adventurous trekking to Everest Base Camp. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 16: Final Departure.

We will drop you at the Tribhuvan International Airport for a flight towards your destination.
