The trek to Everest Gokyo Ri takes you on a captivating journey through the Everest region. You’ll explore charming Sherpa villages nestled among terraced fields. We start with a scenic flight to Lukla and then make our way to Namche Bazaar, the lively hub of the area.
Along the way, you’ll visit Sherpa villages like Khunde and Khumjung and explore renowned monasteries such as Tengboche. The trail presents breathtaking views of iconic peaks, including Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and Taboche.
The highlight of the trek is reaching Gokyo Ri, where you’ll be rewarded with the highest point and spectacular panoramic views. After soaking in the beauty, we’ll trek back through Namche and end our journey with a flight from Lukla to Manthali, followed by a 4-hour drive to Kathmandu.
This Everest Gokyo Ri Trek package is a budget trip planned by Amazing Himalaya Trekking, keeping budget in mind, but there is no compromise on the comfort and safety of trekkers.
Upon arriving at Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be welcomed by your tour guide from Amazing Himalaya Trekking and transferred to your hotel. Check in, relax, and enjoy your free time at the hotel.
Before starting our Everest Gokyo Ri Trek, we will do a full-day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu. The excursion starts with visits to Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath Stupa, and Boudhanath Stupa. All sites are listed as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.
Kathmandu Durbar Square, also known as Basantapur Durbar Square, is situated in the center of Kathmandu Valley. The major highlight of the Square is Kumari Ghar, the home of the living goddess Kasthamandap Temple, made from a single tree. Hanuman Dhoka is the major attraction of Kathmandu Durbar Square. The Durbar reflects Nepalese culture and beliefs.
Swayambhunath Stupa, also popularly known as Monkey Temple, is on a hilltop and offers a panoramic view of Kathmandu. It is one of the sacred sites in Tibetan Buddhism. While you are around the stupa, you should not miss the Bajra (thunderbolt), the temple of Harati.
Pashupatinath Temple is another must-visit site in Kathmandu. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is significant to Hindus. It is one of the most sacred places in the World, and people from all over the world visit Nepal to offer prayers to Pashupatinath Temple. You can see different rituals being carried out around the temple premises.
Boudhanath Stupa reflects Tibetan culture and is one of the largest stupas in the World. You can enjoy a stroll around the stupa, where you can go to rooftop cafes, enjoy the view of the majestic stupa, and click some pictures for your memories.

After an early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport in Kathmandu or Manthali.
We will take a scenic flight to Lukla (2845 m). Upon reaching Lukla and after some refreshment in Lukla your trekking to Phakding (2610 m) starts.
Overnight stay at Trekkers Lodge.
(Note: If the flight from Kathmandu does not take place, you have to drive 4 hours to Manthali early in the morning and fly from there to Lukla.
Kickstart your day with a hearty breakfast before continuing your trek along the river. Enjoy the charm of crossing wooden bridges in the picturesque villages of Benkar and Jorsale. After a well-deserved lunch break at the scenic confluence of the Bhote and Dudh Kosi rivers (2,850m), brace yourself for a challenging ascent to Namche Bazaar (3,440m). Once you conquer the climb, immerse yourself in the vibrant market and explore the fascinating surroundings. Rest up for the night at Trekkers Lodge, where adventure meets comfort.
On the fifth day of Everest Gokyo Ri Trek, we will rest at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization. Namche Bazar is a bustling hub and the heart of the region, perfect for soaking in the local culture. If you’re up for it, we can arrange an optional short hike to the Everest View Point, offering stunning vistas and helping with acclimatization. After a day of relaxation and exploration, unwind and stay the night at Trekkers Lodge.
After resting and acclimatizing in Namche Bazar for a whole day, we will head towards our next destination, Dole. Along the way, you may encounter wildlife and enjoy panoramic views along the way. The path to Dole descends to Kyanjuma following the Gokyo trails. From Mong, we’ll be treated to spectacular views of the Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Tawoche, and Khumbila mountains. Our day concludes with an overnight stay in Dole.
After breakfast, we will leave Dole and head to Machermo. We will trek through the forest, passing beautiful waterfalls and bridges. We will then climb a scenic ridge that offers stunning views of the Cho Oyu, Kantega, and Thamserku mountains. Our journey continues to Machhermo, where we’ll visit the Himalayan Rescue Hospital for an informative lecture on altitude sickness.
We’ll spend the night in Machhermo, resting and diving into the beautiful surroundings.
After breakfast, we’ll start our trek with a challenging climb up a mountain ridge, where we’ll be rewarded with mesmerizing views of the valley below. Our journey continues to the magnificent third lake of Gokyo, nestled at the base of a glacier. Upon arrival, we’ll settle into Trekkers Lodge, the highest lodge in the area, for the night. Take this time to relax, unwind, and immerse yourself in the serene beauty of the lake and its peaceful surroundings.
We will start our day early with an exciting climb up Gokyo Ri, reaching 5,493 meters for breathtaking panoramic views. After soaking in the stunning scenery, we will cross the glacier and head to Dragnak. We will then enjoy a restful night at Trekkers Lodge.
After soaking in the scenic environment of Gokyo Ri, we will head to our next destination, Phorte. The path descends through the Dudh Koshi River, passing the first Gokyo lakes. As you hike, enjoy the view of stunning Cholatse and Taboche peaks. Then, descend before climbing a hill, passing through Machhermo, Luza, and Lhafarma. Reach Phortse. Stay overnight in Phortse.
Moving to the next destination, Monjo, we will descend to Phortse Thanga, surrounded by vibrant rhododendrons, wildflowers, and cascading waterfalls. Keep an eye out for wildlife and enjoy the views of Khumbila Peak. Continue through Kyangjuma to reach Namche Bazaar, then hike onward to Monju. Settle in for an overnight stay in Monju.
For the final hike of the Everest Gokyo Ri trek, we will hike to Lukla, crossing the Dudh Koshi river several times, passing through Phakding, and ascending briefly to Lukla. After reaching our destination, we’ll settle in for a well-deserved overnight stay in Lukla, thinking about our incredible journey and the memories we’ve made along the way.
Today, we’ll take a 15-minute flight from Lukla to Manthali. From there, we’ll enjoy a scenic 4-hour drive back to Kathmandu. Once we arrive, we’ll transfer to our hotel for a comfortable overnight stay, giving us a chance to relax and unwind after our incredible trek.
After spending an awesome time in Nature, today is your leisurely day in Kathmandu. You can visit some cultural sites around Kathmandu or treat yourself to a spa day in Thamel. There are massage therapies specially designed for trekkers. Just rest and unwind, or you can also go for last-minute shopping.
