Strolling around the alley of Bhaktapur, surrounded by ancient houses, will take you back in time. After soaking up the vibrant environment of Bhaktapur, we will head towards our next destination, Changu Narayan Temple, dedicated to Lord Bishnu. It is around 3.5 km away from Bhaktapur and will take around 15 to 20 minutes to drive. Changu Narayan Temple is one of the oldest Hindu temples, located on the hilltop and believed to be in the 4th Century AD.

The temple has traditional Nepali Architecture and is surrounded by beautiful sculptures and art related to Lord Bishnu. It has four entrances, each guarded by impressive life-size pairs of animals, including lions, mythical sarabhas, griffins, and elephants, standing proudly on either side. The wooden struts supporting the roof are beautifully carved with the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu, along with other intricate idols, showcasing incredible craftsmanship. The temple is not just an architectural gem, but it’s a sacred pilgrimage site for Hindus.

To conclude our full-day sightseeing adventure, we’ll hike for three hours to Nagarkot. The trail from Changu Narayan Temple to Nagarkot is moderately easy, making it enjoyable for most travelers.
