The Helambu Gosaikunda Trek is renowned for its natural beauty, pleasant climate, spectacular views of snow-capped mountains, and rich cultural diversity. Trekkers are attracted to this trek not only for its stunning landscapes but also because it remains less crowded even during peak seasons. The primary inhabitants of the Helambu Valley are Sherpas and Tamangs, who share cultural similarities with Tibetan traditions.
Gosaikunda, situated at an elevation of 4360m, is a high-altitude lake covered in snow during winter, adding to the trek’s allure. The region offers a diverse range of natural scenery and the opportunity for a jungle walk. Known for its sub-alpine and sub-tropical vegetation, trekkers may also encounter wildlife during their journey, such as Deer, Monkeys, Thars, and different species of birds.
The Helambu Gosaikunda Trek is a sought-after trekking destination that perfectly blends natural wonders and cultural experiences. Highlights include the holy Gosaikunda Lake, the Tamang Heritage Trail, the renowned Kyangjin Gompa, and the unique local cheese factory. As you trek through Langtang, you’ll be treated to stunning mountain views, glaciers like Kimshing and Langtang Lirung, and abundant wildlife. Spring and autumn are the best times to visit, with the region offering cozy lodges and a chance to discover vibrant villages.
This 12-day Helambu Gosaikunda package includes trekking and exploring different world heritage sites in Kathmandu. After exploring the vibrant city, we will start our trek from Sundarijal.
The route we will follow for the Helambu Gosaikunda trek is Kathmandu—Sundarijal—Chisapani—Kutumsang—Tharepati—Phedi—Gosaikunda—Sing Gompa—Dhunche—Kathmandu.
After arriving at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, a representative from Amazing Himalaya will greet you and take you to your hotel. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Before starting our trek to Helambu-Gosaikunda, we will spend the whole day exploring Kathmandu. We will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath temple, Swayambhunath, and Boudhanath stupa, all of which are listed as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.
The Kathmandu Durbar Square sheds light on the life of the royals in ancient times. Pashupatinath temple is one of the most important places of pilgrimage for all Hindus. Swayambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple, is on top of a hill and has historical significance associated with the foundation of Kathmandu Valley. Boudhanath Stupa is one of the largest stupas in the world.

After breakfast, take a one-hour drive to Sundarijal, the starting point of your trek. The trek begins with an uphill hike through the Shivpuri Watershed and Wildlife Reserve. You’ll pass through the Tamang village of Mulkharka before descending through oak and rhododendron forests to reach Chisapani. Overnight at a trekkers’ lodge.
After breakfast, begin your seven-hour trek to Kutumsang. The trail descends from Chisopani, crossing meadows, and fields, and then continues downhill through Pathi Bhanjyang until you reach Gul Bhanjyang. From here, the trail climbs to a pass at 2,620m, offering a good camping spot. Finally, descend to Kutumsang (2,470m), located on a saddle atop a ridge. Enjoy an overnight stay at a trekkers’ lodge.
After breakfast, commence your trek to Tharepati, which will take about six hours. The trail continues north, ascending the Yurin Danda ridge, which provides stunning views of the surrounding mountain peaks.
As you ascend, the path leads through steep and eroded trails, primarily through fir and rhododendron forests where permanent settlements are sparse. The day’s trek concludes upon reaching Tharepati. Overnight stay at a Trekkers Lodge
After enjoying breakfast at the lodge, begin your trek to Phedi. The trail descends slightly, leading through a flat terrain with oak and bamboo forests. Stop for lunch in Ghopte before continuing the trek to Phedi. Spend the night at a trekkers’ lodge.
After breakfast, follow a ridge for the majority of the day, catching glimpses of the first of the holy lakes, Gosainkunda. Among them, Saraswati Kunda and Bhairab Kunda precede the third lake, Gosainkunda (4380m). This lake holds particular religious and cultural significance for the Nepalese, standing as one of Nepal’s most sought-after pilgrimage sites.
Surrounded by mountains on almost all sides, Gosainkunda is accompanied by an ensemble of nine other lakes in the vicinity. Enjoy the stunning view of the site. During Janai Purnima in August, hundreds of Hindu pilgrims visit the lake for a holy bath. The large rock at the center of the lake is believed to be the remains of a Shiva shrine.

After enjoying your breakfast in Gosaikunda, your trail descends from Gosaikunda, passing through Lauribinayak, offering magnificent mountain views and traversing through lush forests. Overnight at a Trekkers Lodge.
Today will be your last day of Hiking around the Gosaikunda area so enjoy your trek as much as you can. After breakfast, in Sing Gompa the itinerary will take you to Dhunche. Start your trek with the trail descending through pine, oak, and rhododendron forests. Passing through various settlements along the way, you will ultimately arrive in Dhunche, a small town and the headquarters of the Rasuwa district.
Spend the night at a trekkers’ lodge.
Today marks the tenth day of the Helambu Gosaikunda Trek. Post breakfast in Dhunche, embark on your journey to Kathmandu. Enjoy a pleasant 7-hour drive back to Kathmandu. Upon reaching to hotel, take a rest.
Overnight stay in Kathmandu.
After breakfast, take a half-day sightseeing tour of Bhaktapur, one of the most beautiful cities in the Kathmandu Valley and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Explore Bhaktapur Durbar Square, the pottery market, the famous peacock window, and the five-story Nyatapola, Nepal’s tallest pagoda. Afterward, drive back to Kathmandu. Enjoy free time for shopping or strolling around Thamel. In the evening, a farewell dinner will be served to celebrate the successful completion of your journey. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Our adventure trek to Helambu Gosaikunda ends today. Depending on your flight time, you will be transferred to the airport for your onward trip.
