Your epic adventure to Gokyo Ri will start off with a stunning flight to Lukla. Then, you’ll trek to Namche Bazaar, the lively heart of the region. As you trek through picturesque villages like Khunde and Khumjung and visit iconic monasteries such as Tengboche, you’ll be treated to stunning views of towering peaks like Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and Taboche.
The highlight of your trek awaits in the Gokyo Valley, where Gokyo Ri offers unbeatable panoramic vistas from the highest point of the trek. After soaking in the incredible scenery, you’ll make your way back through Namche and wrap up your adventure with a flight from Lukla to Manthali, followed by a scenic drive to Kathmandu. This journey promises everlasting moments and memories that will last a lifetime!

The guide will not only support you but also explain the sites you visit, making your journey more memorable and exciting. The route for the trek to EBC via Gokyo Ri is Lukla to Phakding (2610m) – Namche Bazaar (3440m) – Dole(4050m) – Machermo (4450m) – Gokyo (4750m) – (5357m) and return to Dragnak – Gokyo – Phortse (3840m) – Monjo (2835m).
After arriving at Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be welcomed by your tour guide from Amazing Himalaya Trekking and transferred to your hotel. Check in, relax, and enjoy your free time at the hotel.
Before starting the trek to Everest Gokyo Ri, we will do a full-day sightseeing tour in Kathmandu. The sites we will visit will be Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath Stupa, and Boudhanath Stupa. All the sites are listed as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. While you explore around Kathmandu, our team will prepare your Trekking Permit.
Kathmandu Durbar Square, also known as Basantapur Durbar Square, is situated in the center of Kathmandu Valley. The major highlight of the Square is Kumari Ghar, the home of the living goddess Kasthamandap Temple, made from a single tree. Hanuman Dhoka is the major attraction of Kathmandu Durbar Square. The Durbar reflects Nepalese culture and beliefs.
Swayambhunath Stupa, also popularly known as Monkey Temple, is on a hilltop and offers a panoramic view of Kathmandu. While you are around the stupa, you should not miss the Bajra (thunderbolt), the temple of Harati.
Pashupatinath Temple is another must-visit site in Kathmandu. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is significant to Hindus. It is one of the most sacred places in the World, and people from all over the world visit Nepal to offer prayers to Pashupatinath Temple. You can see different rituals being carried out around the temple premises.
Boudhanath Stupa, our last stop for the day, reflects Tibetan culture. It is one of the largest stupas in Nepal. It is also one of the sacred sites in Tibetan Buddhism. You can enjoy a stroll around the stupa, where you can go to rooftop cafes, enjoy the view of the majestic stupa, and click some pictures for your memory. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.
You will start your day with an early morning breakfast. Then, we will head to the airport to catch a flight to Lukla. The exciting 35-minute flight will take you through the Himalayan ranges.
Upon reaching Lukla, we will take a tea break, and then your trek to Phakding starts. The trek is easy and will take around 3 hours. Overnight stay at Trekkers Lodge.
Note: (If the flight from Kathmandu does not take place, you have to drive 4 hours to Manthali early in the morning and fly from there to Lukla.)
After breakfast at the lodge, we begin our trek, following the Dudh Koshi River. We crossed the river multiple times before entering the park at Jorsale. We take a lunch break at the confluence of Bhote and Dudh Kosi (2850 m). Then, we tackled a steep climb to Namche Bazar (3440 m).
Namche Bazaar is surrounded on three sides by mountain ranges, opening out only towards the Dudh Koshi River. The village serves as a central hub for the area, offering food, sundries, and even mountain climbing equipment. Explore the vibrant market and surroundings. Overnight at Trekkers Lodge.
Today is a rest day at Namche Bazar for acclimatization. Namche is nestled between two ridges, surrounded by the towering peaks of the Khumbu region. This charming village is filled with lodges, tea shops, and souvenir stores, and it offers magnificent views. It is a perfect spot to rest and acclimate to the high altitude before heading towards Thyangboche.
To help with acclimatization, we’ll take a hike up to Khumjung village, passing through the Everest View Hotel in Syangboche. Along the way, we’ll be treated to stunning views of the Himalayas, including the majestic Mt. Everest.
Khumjung is a vibrant Sherpa community with a rich cultural heritage. We’ll visit the old monastery there before heading back to Namche.
After a full day of rest and acclimatization in Namche, we will head toward Dole, our next stop. Gradually, the trail with gentle ups and downs, we will make our way to Dole. Along the way, we may come across wildlife and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views. We descend to Kyanjuma and then follow the Gokyo trails. From Mong, we’ll be treated to spectacular views of the Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Tawoche, and Khumbila mountains. Our day concludes with an overnight stay in Dole.
After breakfast, we will set off on our trek, passing through lush forests, waterfalls, and charming bridges. We’ll then climb a scenic ridge that offers stunning views of the Cho Oyu, Kantega, and Thamserku mountains. Our journey continues to Machhermo, where we’ll visit the Himalayan Rescue Hospital for an informative lecture on altitude sickness.
We’ll spend the night in Machhermo, resting and taking in the beauty of our surroundings.
After breakfast, we’ll begin our trek with a steep climb up to a mountain ridge, where we’ll be greeted with breathtaking views of the valley below. As we continue our journey, we’ll make our way to the stunning third lake of Gokyo, nestled at the foot of a glacier. Upon reaching our destination, we’ll settle into the highest lodge in the area, Trekkers Lodge, for the night.

Today is the highlight of the Everest Gokyo Ri Trek. We will have a special day planned with an excursion to Gokyo Ri. We’ll start early in the morning to climb Gokyo Ri (5,357m), a journey that takes about five hours. The climb offers spectacular panoramic views that make the effort truly rewarding.
After taking in the stunning scenery, we’ll cross the glacier and head to Dragnak for the night. We’ll stay at Trekkers Lodge, where we can relax and reflect on the amazing sights of the day.
After soaking in the scenic environment of Gokyo Ri, we will head to Phorte. The path descends through the Dudh Koshi River, passing the first Gokyo lakes. As you hike, enjoy the view of stunning Cholatse and Taboche peaks. Then, descend before climbing a hill, passing through Machhermo, Luza, and Lhafarma. Reach Phortse. Stay overnight in Phortse.
On the 11th day of our Everest Gokyo Ri, we’ll descend from Phortse Thanga. As we make our way down, we’ll be surrounded by beautiful rhododendrons, wildflowers, and waterfalls. We might even spot some wildlife along the way. We’ll enjoy views of the impressive Khumbila Peak as we travel. After passing through Kyangjuma, we’ll reach Namche Bazaar and continue our hike to Monjo.
We’ll spend the night in Monjo, winding down after a day full of natural beauty and adventure.
Today marks our final day of the Gokyo Ri. We’ll make our way from Monjo to Lukla, crossing the Dudh Koshi River several times along the way. We’ll pass through Phakding and enjoy a brief ascent as we approach Lukla. After reaching our destination, we’ll settle in for a well-deserved overnight stay in Lukla, thinking about our incredible journey and the memories we’ve made along the way.
Today, we’ll take a 15-minute flight from Lukla to Manthali. From there, we’ll enjoy a scenic 4-hour drive back to Kathmandu. Once we arrive, we’ll transfer to our hotel for a comfortable overnight stay, giving us a chance to relax and unwind after our incredible trek.
Today is a free day for you to relax or explore Kathmandu at your own pace. You might choose to visit some of the city’s cultural sites, enjoy local cuisine, or simply unwind after your trek.
You can also treat yourself to a soothing spa experience in the Thamel area, with massage therapies specially designed for trekkers.
We’ll stay the night in Kathmandu, giving you time to enjoy the city’s vibrant atmosphere before heading home.
