The Langtang Valley Trek offers a breathtaking journey through Nepal’s stunning landscapes, vibrant forests, and rich Buddhist culture, with awe-inspiring views of snow-capped peaks and serene monasteries.
Langtang is one of Nepal’s premier trekking destinations, just after Annapurna and Everest. Declared a National Park in 1974, this stunning area lies to the north of Kathmandu Valley.
The Langtang Valley Trek will treat you with majestic views of the Langtang Himalayas. It takes you through vibrant rhododendron and bamboo forests, breathtaking waterfalls, and snow-capped peaks. Reaching heights of 4,000m, you can even push higher to 5,000m for a sunrise view from Tserko Ri.
The trek to Langtang Valley begins with a drive through the scenic Kakani Pass at 1860 meters, descending into the Trisuli River valley and continuing to Dhunche, the trek’s starting point. The region is home to the Bhotia people, who follow Buddhism and can often be seen tending their yak and sheep herds as you trek through their beautiful land.
Along the way, you will experience the rich Buddhist culture of the Tamangs and Sherpas, especially at the ancient Kyanjin Gompa monastery. The trek also offers breathtaking views of towering peaks like Dorje Lakpa, Langtang Ri, and Langtang Lirung. Passing through Langtang National Park, you’ll encounter diverse wildlife.
Before beginning the trek to Langtang Valley, there is a full-day sightseeing program around Kathmandu Valley. You will visit famous tourist spots like Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath Stupa, and Patan. The tour package also includes another sightseeing program once you return from the Langtang Valley Trek.

Before starting the Langtang Valley Trek, our itinerary includes a full-day sightseeing program around Kathmandu Valley, including visits to famous tourist sites.
In the morning, you will be driven to the renowned Swayambhunath Temple, the oldest Buddhist stupa with monasteries in Nepal. From this vantage point, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Himalayas and the Kathmandu Valley.
Then, you will explore the old town of Kathmandu, visiting the Kathmandu Durbar Square, a palace complex adorned with numerous temples and monuments, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In the afternoon, the journey continues to Patan, the oldest Buddhist city known for its significant cultural attractions. You will explore the Durbar Square, featuring various temples, including the Krishna Temple and the Golden Temple. The day concludes with an overnight stay in Kathmandu.
After breakfast, you will embark on a scenic drive through an impressive mountain landscape, passing tranquil villages, to reach Syabru Besi (a distance of 200 km). Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted with a wonderful view of the immediate and up-close mountain panoramas. Your overnight stay is arranged in Syabru Besi.
After breakfast, our trek starts from Syabrubesi along the Langtang Khola. We traverse through oak and rhododendron forests, encountering both ascents and descents. Upon crossing a bridge over the Langtang Khola (small river), we arrive at Lama Hotel. Overnight stay at Trekkers Lodge.
Post breakfast, our trek from Lama Hotel along the Langtang Khola takes us through oak and rhododendron forests and across a bridge over the Langtang Khola. We ascend a steep path leading to Ghora Tabela. Upon reaching the green meadows of Ghoda Tabela, the white peaks of the Langtang Mountains come into view.
Continuing our climb, we enjoy the mountain landscape with numerous waterfalls. The path winds through the widening valley, passing temporary settlements used by shepherds. Before reaching Langtang village, which was affected by the April 2015 earthquake, we passed a Buddhist monastery. Overnight stay at Trekkers Lodge.
After breakfast, we set off on a hike to Kyangjing Gompa, the region’s key monastery. Along the way, you’ll pass by water mills, prayer wheels, chortens, and the impressive Mani wall, the largest in Nepal, adorned with carved inscriptions.
Once you arrive, the afternoon is yours to explore the Buddhist shrine, soak in the stunning mountain vistas, and enjoy the natural beauty. For a truly unforgettable experience, take a hike up to Kyanjin Ri (4,350m), where you can enjoy panoramic views of Langtang Lirung, Langtang, Kinshung, and Yansa Tsenji. Return to Kyangjing Gompa for an overnight stay.
Today is reserved for acclimatization. You can choose to relax in Kyangjing Gompa or embark on a full-day excursion to Tsergo Ri (4,984m). After breakfast, we set out with a packed lunch for a rewarding trek to Tsergo Ri. This challenging hike offers breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks. In the afternoon, return to Kyangjing Gompa to rest and spend the night.
After breakfast, we retrace our steps to Ghora Tabela. The trek descends through forests and beautiful Tamang villages, offering views of the Himalayas missed during the ascent. Overnight stay in Ghoda Tabela.
Early in the morning, after breakfast, our path gently ascends to Thulo Syabru. The village, adorned with Sherpa and Tamang settlements, provides a wonderful view of Langtang Himal and Ganesh Himal. Overnight stay in Thulo Syabru.
After breakfast at Chandan Bari Sing Gompa, we head downhill to Dhunche via the small village of Ramche and other villages along the route. Today’s trek, surrounded by rhododendrons, pine trees, and Himalayan bamboo, concludes in Dhunche. Our car/bus awaits, and we drive back to Kathmandu, arriving later in the evening. Overnight in Kathmandu.
After breakfast, settle into the car or bus for a scenic 6-hour journey back to Kathmandu. By early afternoon, you’ll arrive and check into your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to relax, unwind, or explore the city at your own pace. Feel free to take a stroll and soak in the local atmosphere!

After completing the amazing trek to Langtang, our itinerary still includes some exciting places around Kathmandu. Today, you will visit Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath, and Bhaktapur Durbar Square.
Early in the morning, you will be visiting Pashupatinath, the most significant Hindu temple. The temple area attracts countless pilgrims, yogis, and devotees, hosting daily Hindu rituals. On the banks of the Bagmati River, cremation ceremonies for the deceased take place. While non-Hindus are not permitted to enter the temple complex, you can still enjoy a panoramic view from a terrace nearby.
The next stop on our sightseeing tour is Boudhanath, which presents a contrasting experience as the largest Buddhist stupa surrounded by numerous Tibetan monasteries. In the evening, continue your exploration with a visit to the enchanting royal city of Bhaktapur. Highlights include Durbar Square, the pottery market, the renowned Peacock Window, and the five-story Nyatapola, the tallest pagoda in Nepal. Conclude the day with an overnight stay in Kathmandu.
Today is the last day of your adventurous trip to Langtang. According to your flight time, you will be transferred to the airport. If there is time, you can do some last-minute shopping.
